“There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.”
―Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Ignorance— the lack of awareness— is most often the foundation of failure; It leads to fear, anxiety, and the total lack of belief. In order to attain success in any endeavor, the most important thing a person needs is knowledge, and the only way to acquire knowledge is to study.
Self-help or self-improvement must begin with developing a loathing for ignorance (seriously loathe it); Why? Because to work on yourself, you must conscientiously seek out knowledge, and you must be patient enough to screen all of the information that is made available to you. Not every bit of information out there is safe and beneficial for you to actually adopt.
In this week's article, I will recommend ten self-help books written by a number of credible authors that will provide you with vital knowledge which should get you started on the journey towards self-discovery, and self-improvement. These books will challenge the way you think, the meaning you give to the experiences you have, and the way you see success and failure:
1. Think and Grow Rich
Written by Napoleon Hill, Think and grow rich teaches you the practice of purposeful thinking in order to create in reality the things you have dreamed about, but ruled as impossible. This book provides you with information that helps you switch from having thoughts of failure, to having thoughts of success. Although this book is more specific to financial success, nuggets obtained from can be applied in any domain of a person's life.
2. Unleash the Power Within
In this book, Anthony Robbins helps you acknowledge that fear prevents you from pursuing your dreams and coaches you to master the skill of transforming the feeling of fear into a force that propels you to face those challenging aspirations with gusto. He does this by teaching you strategies to change the way to communicate with yourself, and perceive all your experiences; the meaning you give to things that happen to you must be empowering, and not limiting.
3. Unlimited Power
Also written by Anthony Robbins, this book begins by introducing you to the art of modeling— identifying and imitating the outstanding people in your career or personal life— in 5 simple steps; what they mastered after years of learning from mistakes and practice can be mastered within the shortest possible time by faithfully modeling their exact actions. This book also teaches you the strategies that lead to success and excellence.

Reid enlighten the reader about opportunities; they elucidate what makes those "lucky" people in society, who always seem to be in the right place at the right time, successful. This book also teaches the reader how to intentionally design their thoughts according to their desires, and how to develop a goal oriented mind-set that enables them actualize their desires.

He also educates the reader about the eleven types of thinking and how successful people attain excellence by being creative with their thinking.
9. How successful People Grow
This book was also written by John C. Maxwell and he provides the reader with fifteen fundamental steps that will help them achieve personal growth. 10. The Alchemist
The last book I will recommend in this article is The Alchemist . In this novel, Paulo Coelho teaches very important life lessons about the relentless pursuit of the desires of your heart , and how to keep going even after a series of failures. He also teaches on to make the best out of every challenge you encounter (how to turn challenges into opportunities).
These are the books I recommend to anyone who is tired of having the same abysmal results and is ready for a change in their personal lives, their careers, and in their relationships. I encourage you to read each and everyone of them with keen attention, and with an open mind; that's the most efficient and effective way to fully grasp the concepts which the writers are trying to convey.
